Aston Martin Doesn’t Expect Big Changes in The Teams’ Levels During The 2024 Season

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack believes that competition levels in Formula One will not witness “major changes” in the 2024 season due to the stability of the rules. This will be the third season within the current era of ground effects regulations. It seems that the design direction of the team cars, especially in terms of designing the sides of the cars, is similar to the solution followed by Red Bull.

There have been notable exceptions to Mercedes and Ferrari, but both teams will introduce new cars for the 2024 season, which will likely be within the same Red Bull-inspired design direction.

Given the lack of major changes in the technical regulations, Krack believes it would be “surprising” to see any major changes in performance levels this season.

Mike Krack said: “When the rules are fixed, as is the case now, teams will go towards incremental development. If you have a premium car, as is the case with Red Bull, a lot of teams will try to go in that direction.” He added: “On the other hand, we have heard from Ferrari and Mercedes that they are going to make very big architectural changes. So, we are excited to see what comes out of that.”
Krack added, “But I believe that in general, when the technical laws remain the same, the levels converge to each other year after year”

It is noteworthy that the Aston Martin team appointed Mike Crack to the position of team director before the start of the 2022 Formula 1 season, following the departure of team director Otmar Szafnauer.
